The Department of Cognitive and Learning Sciences encompasses the interlinked fields of Psychology and Teacher Education. Undergraduate coursework in the department leads to a major in psychology or to secondary teacher certification in eleven different fields. The department also offers a M. S. degree in Applied Science Education, with specializations in Applied Science and Mathematics, Earth System Science, and Peace Corps Masters International program in Science Education. The department also offers a number of teacher professional development courses.
Department faculty members are engaged in a wide range of research into cognition and learning, with emphases on applied cognitive psychology, human factors psychology, science education, and mathematics education.
